My son receives OT therapy twice a week at school.  His fine motor skills need work.  We are always looking to find ways to strengthen his fingers and hands.  Plus these are wonderful as fidget toys.

Totally Textured Metallics

These were a lot of fun for both of my children to play with.  My daughter is now 18 months old so she enjoys the textures.  My son liked mixing the colors and putting them all together.  It is a little challenging sometimes for him to snap the pieces together but this is good for him to do.  He has already told me we need to get more.

Tangles Have Many Uses:

-It can be a puzzle
-A desktop toy
-fidget toy
-anti stress device

Onyx faceted bracelet side shot-1000x1000

Faceted Onyx Bracelet

Stone type - Onyx Stone shape - 128 Facets Stone size - 10mm Length - 7" Long Clasp - 925 Sterling silver - Hypoallergenic (nickel free)

I was given the opportunity to host a giveaway with IE Mommy.  Here is her review of this lovely bracelet.

IE Mommy's Review:

IMG_3299

"I am a simple girl and jewelry isn't any exception. I like things that look classic yet elegant so I was instantly drawn to the Faceted Onyx Bracelet from Medu Jewelry. As soon as I opened the box, I knew it was top quality just from the appearance and weight of it. I love how it sparkles even though it's black. The faceted beads catch the light and draw just the right amount of attention without being over the top.

The clasp was a little bit tricky and I couldn't figure it out at first but once
I did, I realized that it's actually going to be very secure and probably won't ever come undone and fall off my wrist. When it comes to jewelry, after quality and appearance I look for affordability and I was really impressed with the prices and of Medu. I know it's scary to buy jewelry online but every piece comes with a Authenticity Guarantee so you know exactly what you're getting and what it's retail value is which is a lot higher than what you pay. I loved Medu's selection, quality and affordability. The Faceted Onyx Bracelet is a new classic piece that I can wear with just about anything and it's timeless look won't go out with the next trend. Thanks Medu!"

DIY Gift Tags and Confetti

Made with a Fiskars Craft Punch

I have started collecting paper craft punches.  There are a ton of cute punches available.  I started out with a Martha Stewart butterfly punch but didn't like how the edges came out.  And it seemed to get stuck in one spot.  I bought a Fiskars heart punch from Amazon.com and really liked it.  It worked and it was easy to use.

EK Tools Bat Craft Punch

I love bats so the EK Tools Craft Punch was perfect.  I found EK Tools punches to be easy to use as well. They feel heavier but they cut pretty well.  I think when it comes to crafts many things are trial and error. Some products may work better for others and some may not.  I would buy Fiskars and EK Tools products again.

You can use the large craft punches for Tags, confetti, table place settings, decorations for baked goods and scrap booking.

Gift Tags

Gift tags are really easy to make.  Card stock comes in many different colors and patterns.  You'll always be able to find something that is appealing to your own taste.  My favorite color is purple.  I chose a purple card stock with a slight shimmer on one side.  I cut them into rectangles with a paper cutter, then punched a hole in the top and a heart in the corner.

What did I learn?  It's okay to try out different brands until you find one that suits you best.  Some products will not meet your expectations even if they look cute.  I found a new craft obsession that I enjoy.

Do you have a trial and error craft experience you'd like to share?  Have you gone through several brands to find what you were looking for?

Quick and Easy Fabric Wall Decor

Make Your Own Wall Decor

I recently won a giveaway for adorable fabric from The Intrepid Thread.  They have some really unique fabrics in their shop.  I am a beginner when it comes to sewing so I was trying to think what I could make that was quick and easy.  Embroidery hoops are great for wall decor.  Plus you could probably do this project under 15 minutes.

Items Needed:

-Embroidery Hoops
-Fabric
-Glue Gun
-Scissors

Step 1:

Loosen hoops and place fabric the way you want it.  Then tighten the screw and make sure fabric is pulled tight.  I had to adjust fabric a few times because I wasn't used to working with these hoops.

The Back View

Step 2:

Cut fabric so that there is enough left to glue down.

Step 3:

Glue down edges of fabric to back of hoop.

Step 4:

Hang on wall of choice.  I put mine in the bedroom.

Finished Fabric Wall Decor

I'm going to choose two more fabric designs for the other two hoops.  This is a fun project to do with spare or leftover fabric.

What do you like to do with spare fabric?

Support Hi BabyBoo! Kickstarter Project

Do you love Yo Gabba Gabba?  My daughter sure does like dancing to the fun music.  I remember seeing one of my favorite bands on Yo Gabba Gabba dressed as bugs.  It's a show that allows the parents to be entertained just as much as the child.

YoGG co-creator, Scott Schultz, and YoGG music supervisor, Ben Schultz, are creating a new video series and app for babies!  How cool is that?!

Hi Babyboo! will bring music, art, puppets,  sign language, and giggles to the youngest audiences with Hi BabyBoo! But they need our help.

Scott and Ben are taking this project directly to friends and fans with Kickstarter. Funding will help produce a new multimedia experience for toddlers and babies, including five-minute episodes of the new show and an interactive iPad app that kids and grownups can enjoy together. Supporter rewards include a variety of exclusive Hi BabyBoo! items, such as T-shirts, onesies, plush dolls, baby books, posters, a production diary, the finished app, and even chances to meet the crew and join the cast.

Please help support the Schultzes to bring this magical project to life! To view the project and enter for a chance to win a bunch of cool prizes, see below!  There are only a few more days for the Kickstarter funding.  It seems like it would be a really cute show and app.

Clean Well Hand Sanitizer And Disinfecting Wipes Review

*Disclosure- I acquired complimentary products for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are my own.*

I tried out two Clean Well products.  In converting to natural and organic products, cleaning products is important too.  If you look at many other brands they contain toxic chemicals.  Clean Well's formula uses the antibacterial properties of the thyme plant.  This makes the disinfecting wipes safe to use around kids, pets, and food.

Botanical Disinfecting Wipes

These wipes are great for cleaning kitchen counters and most surfaces around the home.  I used them on a coffee table and it made the wood shine.  It kills 99.9% of germs botanically.  I also feel safe wiping down the toys with these.  The Lemon Scent was pleasant and you can smell the thyme, which just makes me think of cooking.  I am happy to swipe out my old disinfecting wipes for Clean Well wipes.

Natural Hand Sanitizer

I really enjoyed the orange vanilla scent for the hand sanitizer.  It is safe for children to use. The size is perfect for fitting inside a diaper bag  or even a small purse.  I will stock up on these so my husband can take it to work.  Alcohol free is a plus.  Other sanitizers dry out my hands.  Their hand sanitizers also come in wipes.

Wantable October Accessory Box Review

Disclosure- I received a complimentary Wantable Accessory Box for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are my own.

Wantable Accessory Box

I was excited to open my Wantable Accessory Box for the month of October.  I never used a website that custom picks out items for you.  Wantable gives you the choice of a monthly subscription or just a right now box.  They have three categories for you to choose from.  You can get the Make Up box, Accessories Box, or the Intimates Box.  I chose the Accessories Box because I'm a little bit more picky when it comes to my beauty products and undies.

Scarf, Ring, and Bracelet
Once you choose a category, you then answer a few questions about your personal style.  You can tell Wantable what you Love, Like, and Dislike.  I told them I liked Classic, Glam, and Rock n Roll for styles.  I liked bracelets, rings, and scarves.

Bow Ring

I love this cute silver bow ring.  I like simple designs when it comes to rings.  I don't want it to be too bulky.  This was perfect for my right hand.  Wantable will also give you ideas on how to wear your new items.  The Belisma Ring is said to go well with a pastel green nail polish.  This sounds fun.  I will have to go out and buy some new nail polish.

The Lucille Bracelet

The Lucille Bracelet is quite funky.  I normally wouldn't buy a bracelet this big, just because I have a tiny wrist and it feels a bit heavy.  My inner teenage self liked it.  Back in the day, I wore some pretty wild jewelry.  Sometimes it's okay to go outside of your comfort zone when it comes to jewelry.  Just have some fun!

Roxanna Scarf from Accessory ST

My favorite item in the Wantable Box is the Roxanna Scarf from Accessory ST.  I have a small obsession with scarves.  Animal print and the studs make it something I would totally wear.  Overall I'd say this Accessory Box was a lot of fun.  This would be a cool Christmas gift for any stylish lady.  What happens if you are not loving the items you received?  Not a problem, you will get a full refund.

For those who choose a one time box the price is $40.  If you choose a subscription the price is $36 a month.

Have you ever tried Wantable?  Do you know anyone who might love this as a gift?

Andalou Naturals Fruit Stem Cell Science Review & Giveaway

*Disclosure- I received complimentary products for the purpose of this review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Andalou Naturals is the first beauty brand to achieve 100% Non-GMO verification.  Their fruit stem cell science helps to renew, repair, and regenerate healthy skin.  Andalou Naturals has a info section here.

Get Started Age Defying Kit

The Get Started Age Defying Kit contains 5 skincare essentials for dry and sensitive skin.  This kit is wonderful for my skin.  Especially in the winter, my skin gets really dry.  I tend to have sensitive skin and do not like most facial products on the market.  The fact that this brand has No GMO's and is cruelty-free makes me happy too.  This kit is a perfect gift for those who may suffer from sensitive skin or might want to try a healthier beauty brand.

Lavender Shea Hand Cream

My favorite product that I tried was the Lavender Shea Hand Cream.  I'm a huge fan of lavender's smell and healing abilities.  Hand washing can leave your hands dry.  Winter time can leave them dry as well.  This cream is perfect for every day use.  The Lavender Shea Hand Cream is a Force of Nature Product. This means 100% of the net profits of this product will benefit socially responsible projects.

Fruit Stem Cell Revitalize Serum

The Fruit Stem Cell Revitalize Serum helps to repair cellular damage.  It also evens skin tone and smooths texture leaving you with fewer lines and wrinkles.  I'm using this near the corner of my eyes, to hopefully reduce crow's feet.  71% of the ingredients in this product are certified organic which I think is pretty good.

Discount Code: NONGMO3: exclusive to my readers during the month of October for 25% off entire order, valid from October 1- October 31.

Blue Apron Box Review

Disclosure- I received a complimentary Blue Apron Box for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are my own.

Blue Apron Box

Blue Apron is a fun, new subscription service that delivers you all the ingredients that you need and the recipes to go along with it.  It is such a great idea.  The box arrived at a good time too.  My mom was in town visiting.  She kept coming into the kitchen making a surprised look on her face.  As if she never saw me cook before.  Inside the Blue Apron box were 3 meals.  Each recipe card has wonderful directions on the back with pictures.  All the ingredients, including herbs and condiments are measured out for you.  I really love that you do not have too much to think about.  The only challenge for me was following directions.  I usually never follow recipes exactly as they are.  Each dinner/lunch is a 2 person serving.  I found there to be a little more then that.

Red Pepper for Stuffed Peppers

I have had my mom's stuffed peppers before but never made them on my own.  This recipe is Stuffed Peppers with Beef & Millet.  I never heard of millet before this meal.  It is an ancient whole grain.

Beef, onion, garlic, and millet

Stuffed Peppers with Beef & Millet

I was happy with the way it came out.  The hubby liked it too.  I would definitely use this recipe again.  The directions were easy to follow and the ingredients were fresh.  There was actually enough beef & millet mixture to use for another pepper.  I just put it in a bowl for leftovers.

Shrimp Spaghettini with Chilis, Mint & Lemon

I Love Shrimp!

I think this was my favorite meal in the box.  Shrimp is a favorite of mine.  What I really loved was that the shrimp came peeled and deveined.  First time using a shallot and sweet Italian pepper.

Shrimp Spaghettini with chilis, mint, and lemon tasted fresh with a little kick from the pepper flakes which I didn't put on my mom's plate.  She doesn't like spicy food.

Mexican-Style Chopped Salad with Chicken & Corn

Last but not least was the salad meal which I used as Dinner for my mom and I.  My husband isn't a big salad person.  I was excited to use Queso Fresco for the first time.  One of my favorite things about this salad was the dressing.  The dressing consists of lime, mayo, olive oil, salt and pepper.  It tasted great.  I enjoyed the radishes and corn too.

Add caption

Overall, the Blue Apron box was an enjoyable experience.  Cooking new recipes and using ingredients that I might normally not buy was fun.  I think Blue Apron is good for those who have busy schedules and don't always have the time to go shopping.  It is also great as a gift.  Why not?  Some people don't want to find a recipe and also go searching for the ingredients.  Or they can be like me, a tired mom who sometimes runs out of creative ideas in the kitchen.

You can get Blue Apron for $9.99 per person per meal.  Like Blue Apron on Facebook or follow them on Twitter for more ideas of what great meals you could be cooking.

Have you ever tried a box subscription before?

Sir Kensington's Gourmet Scooping Sauce Review

Sir Kensington's Gourmet Scooping Sauce

Disclosure:  I received complimentary products for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are very much my own.

Do you love Mayonnaise as much as I do?  Maybe you are looking for a healthier version of Mayo and Ketchup.  Sir Kensington's Gourmet Scooping Sauce has a mayonnaise that is all natural and Non-GMO verified.  Their Ketchup will be Non-GMO verified by the end of the year.

Sir Kensington's Ketchup on my hot dog

I love ketchup on my hot dog.  Sir Kensington's Ketchup was really good. It actually tasted a lot like fresh marinara sauce. It is so yummy that I would love to just dip mozzarella sticks into it.  Their ketchup is made with real tomatoes, never from concentrate.  Half the sugar than most major brands.  Plus, 45% less sodium, which is very important to me.  I am trying to cut back on my salt intake.

Chipotle Mayonnaise

My favorite of the Sir Kensington sauces is the Chipotle Mayonnaise.  Talk about scooping, I scooped it right into my mouth.  I would definitely buy this for a chip dip.  If you like a bit of spice or want a little kick to your Mayo, this would be a good one for you to try.  You can also make your own chips from fresh potatoes and then dip them into the Chipotle Mayo or try the Spiced Ketchup.  The plain Mayonnaise is made with cage free eggs and has 33% less fat.  It has a nice tangy taste.  I will be happy to buy this Mayonnaise from now on.

My overall experience of Sir Kensington's was a good one.  They have converted me.  I will not look back at the classics I grew up on.  Not just because I like the flavors.  I like that the products are healthier for me and my family.  The last time I was at Whole Foods there was a sale for the Mayo and Ketchup.

You can like Sir Kensington on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

You can also check out their shop here.

The Luvs Lullaby Lift Comes To Brooklyn #Lullabylift #Ad

Disclosure: This post was made possible by the Double Duty Divas.  I received a product as compensation.  All opinions are my own.

I recently watched the newest commercial from Luvs which shows desperate parents trying to get their baby to sleep with a little car ride.  It also shows how different techniques are used after baby number two is born. This made me laugh because I am very aware of the car ride nap time.  Newborns can be a challenge with getting a sleep routine down.

On October 10th and October 11th, which is this Thursday and Friday, Luvs is going to help some Brooklyn parents out.  Do you have a restless baby who needs help sleeping?  Maybe you live in Brooklyn and do not own a car.  Most people I know who live in Manhattan and Brooklyn do not own cars.  Be sure to follow @Luvs on Twitter.  Tweet #Lullabylift between the hours of 6pm-12am on Thursday and Friday and Luvs will come save the day.  The sleep utility vehicles will be equipped with car seats.  Check out the map and boundaries here.  After the ride, parents will be gifted with New Luvs with Nighlock.  The New Luvs with Nightlock has the largest absorbency area ever to lock away wetness.  This helps your baby to stay asleep through the night.  We know babies can wake up in the middle of the night if they are wet and unhappy.  I hope you take advantage of the Luvs Lullaby Lift.

Magformers Review and Giveaway

Magformers

I received complimentary Magformers for the purpose of this review.  Magformers are magnet construction sets that are wonderful for brain development and creative play.  Magformers use rare earth magnets called neodymium, which are the strongest magnets in the world.  This is why these sets cost more money.  The Magformers never reject and always connect, which is great for children so they won't get easily frustrated.  I know my son can get frustrated quickly if something he is building doesn't work out right.  Magformers are fun and educational.  There are 14 shapes and 9 different colors.  On the back of the boxes you can find some cool pull up tricks.  This is where they show you what shapes to put together on a flat surface, then as you pull them up, they connect to make a really cool larger design.

My Daughter Loves Magformers

Magformers construction sets are for older kids but my 15 month old loved them.  It's a fun way for the little one's to learn colors and shape names.  My son who will be 5 in October received OT therapy at his school.  He has some delays with his fine motor skills.  I find any kind of building with blocks and magnets are great for him.  He really enjoyed making his own designs as well as following the directions to make fun shapes.

Noah's Design with Magformers

You can lay them flat and just play with the shapes, making all sorts of designs.  Let the children's imagination run free.  It is always fun to see what they come up with.

Triangle Fun

The more sets you own, gives you more choices and shapes to choose from.  We received the Rainbow Set62 Piece SetWow Set, and the Light Show Set.  The Rainbow Set is a great starter set.  It will leave you wanting more.  Which is where the 62 Piece set is wonderful.  It comes with nice size octagons.  I personally liked this set the best.  It would be a great holiday or birthday gift for any child.  The Wow Set is cool too.  It comes with two sets of wheels and one square with a little man attached.  Inside the box there are large photo cards showing you all the different vehicles you can make.  The Light Show Set is amazing.  It comes with rechargeable lighted cubes.  If the light runs out, you can use the USB cable that comes with the set to recharge it.  Shut off the lights after making a design to see how the pretty colors look with the lights shining through.

Overall, my son loves the Magformers and was just telling me we need to get more sets.  I think he wants the Carnival Set next.  Even when my children aren't playing with them, I find myself making things.  You can like Magformers on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

Now for the exciting part!  Magformers are offering a giveaway to win one of their awesome construction sets.  Giveaway is open to ages 18+ and US Residents.  Like Magformers on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter for chances to win.  Prize will be shipped from Magformers to the winner.

GingerChi All Purpose Healing Oil Review

GingerChi All Purpose Healing Oil

I received a complimentary product for the purpose of this review.  I was lucky to try out GingerChi's All Purpose Healing Massage Oil.  GingerChi is a brand that I can understand.  Through the power of ginger and it's natural healing properties we can have beautiful and healthy skin.  You may have heard of ginger before and you may have tasted ginger in your food.  Have you ever heard of Chi?  Chi or Qi, according to Chinese culture, is the life force present in all living things.  When Chi flows freely through our bodies,  we can obtain optimal health.

GingerChi states the Skincare Benefits of Ginger:

-Can slow the aging process.  Ginger is rich in antioxidants and can repair damage caused by free radicals.

-Enhances skin tone

-Fortifies the body

Uses for All Purpose Healing Oil:

-alleviate indigestion
-respiratory congestion
-muscle aches, joint pain
-soothe irritation

A while back before I had kids, I had gone to school for an Acupuncture program.  I never finished the program but will always have great respect for those who practice Traditional Chinese Medicine.  I believe in the healing power of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine.  Alternative medicine and natural healing is something I would always try first.

My husband used the GingerChi All Purpose Healing Oil on his back.  He has frequent back aches and has used Tiger Balm in the past.  He really liked this massage oil and wants me to put it on his back from now on.  I like the smell of this oil much better than the Tiger Balm smell.  I used it on my calves and lower back.  For some reason my calves have been sore.  Maybe from carrying my kids up our apartment stairs.  The All Purpose Healing Oil soothed my sore muscles.  I would use their products again.  Their value sets would make a great gift for a friend or family member.

You can follow GingerChi on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest news on their products.  You can purchase their products here on the GingerChi website.

Do you use any natural beauty products?  What is your favorite natural remedy?

Upcycle Project

Leather Pants

I had a pair of teal leather pants in the closet.  Why would I have teal leather pants?  I can blame it on my odd teenage years.  I only wore these pants one time.  Instead of trashing them, I decided to have fun.  What could I make with leather?  Upcycle time!  I love upcycle craft projects.

Simple Rectangle Bookmark

My first and super quick item that I made was a bookmark.  I don't have any bookmarks around.  Usually I just grab a piece of paper to mark my spot.  Cut out a rectangle shape and fringe the end.  It only takes a minute to do this and I think it looks nicer than scrap paper.

Trace Envelope onto Material

Next I made a simple pouch.  I took an old envelope and opened it up to use for my pattern.  Traced it onto the back of the leather.

Then I cut out the pattern.  Folded it and used a no sew tape to hold it in place.  Not sure how durable the no sew tapes are but so far, so good.  I still need a snap or screw back for the closure.  Overall, it is simple to do and you can use different patterns to change the look of the pouch.

Simple Leather Pouch

I still have a leg left of the leather pants.  I might make some fringe key chains and even some leather bracelets.  It might have been a poor color choice when I was a teen but it looks better for accessories.

Did you ever find a piece of clothing in your closet and wonder "what was I thinking?"
What else do you think I should make?

gimMe Roasted Seaweed Snacks Review

gimMe Organic Seaweed Snacks

I received complimentary gimMe Organic Seaweed Snacks for the purpose of this review.  I love discovering new snacks, especially when they are organic and Non-GMO verified.  Seaweed snacks are easily devoured in my home.  My 14 month old enjoyed munching on them too.

gimMe Health Foods is owned by Annie Chun and her husband Steve Broad.  You may recognize Annie Chun food products in your grocery store already.  The name stems from gim which means seaweed in Korean.  The seaweed comes from Jang Heung Bay, a region of Korea's Yellow Sea.

The Sesame and Sea Salt Roasted Seaweed Snacks were perfect.  Sharing them with my daughter both times...well, I'm sure I ate most of it.  The sesame had a nice, light flavor and the sea salt had the right amount of salt.  Let's just say once you have one sheet, you will want them all.

A view of the Sea Salt Seaweed Snack

gimMe also has Roasted Seaweed Snacks in Crumbles.  You can eat them as a snack or use them as a topping.  My husband used them as a topping for his rice.

Rice, Chicken, and gimMe Seaweed Crumbles

The crumbles come in Cheddar Cheese, Honey Dijon, Sesame, and Teriyaki.  We tried the Sesame, Cheddar Cheese, and Honey Dijon crumbles.  I liked the Sesame the best.  My husband liked the Sesame the best too.  The other flavors are fun to munch on also.  I know we will be buying these in the future.

gimMe Seaweed Snack Facts:
